The Ministry of National Education managed to complete the first stage of its goal to distribute tablet computers to students as part of its project to support distance education. Delivery of 500.000 tablet computers which were procured by the Ministry was completed in January.

The Ministry completed the delivery of tablet computers in 7 phases due to increasing need for computers and decreasing production throughout the globe. A total of 500.000 tablet computers were delivered to students who needed tablets for distance education.

Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk had a video conference meeting with the provincial directors of national education. Noting that the number of tablets delivered to students exceeded original plans due to the support of local administrations, private sector and nongovernmental institutions, Selçuk stressed that they have been working to provide computers and internet to every single student in the country.

"TRT EBA TV channels, approximately 14 thousand and 500 EBA Support Points and 167 EBA Mobile Support Vehicles which are still on the road despite hard winter conditions are among our projects we designed in an effort to reach children all over the country. We have completed the first stage of our project to deliver tablet computers. We kept our promise but we will continue to work in an effort to reach more children. We will complete the delivery of a total of 600 thousand tablet computers until the end of February," said Selçuk.

Tablet computers delivered by the Ministry also include 25 GB quota internet which students need for distance education.

Additional 100 thousand tablet computers will be delivered to students without the need to make any application according to the criteria such as the income level of the family, number of students in school age in the family and academic success of the student.
