MEB WILL LAUNCH "EARTHQUAKE PSYCHOEDUCATION PROGRAMS"The Ministry of National Education (MEB) will start "Earthquake Psychoeducation Programs" for students, teachers and parents in the wake of the opening of the schools.
In addition to the psychosocial support provided in the quake- hit provinces, The Ministry of National Education will provide psychological first aid programs to students, parents, teachers and other individuals transferred from the earthquake region. As of February 20, after the opening of the schools Earthquake Psychoeducation Programs will be conducted for all students in 71 cities that were indirectly affected by the earthquake.
The MEB Post-Earthquake Psychosocial Support Action Plan was prepared by the MEB Psychosocial Coordination Unit for the provinces that were both directly and indirectly affected by the earthquake. While the Ministry provides support to children by guidance teachers and psychological counselors by psychosocial support centers established by the Ministry of National Education in the quake-hit regions, MEB will also initiate new support mechanisms during this process.
Psychological first aid for those who transferred from the earthquake zone
According to the support programs, psychological first aid will also be given to students, parents, teachers and other individuals who are transferred from the earthquake zone and placed in dormitories, hostels and hotels by psychosocial support teams in provinces that are indirectly affected by the earthquake. Earthquake Psychoeducation Programs prepared for preschool, primary, secondary and high school students in all schools in 71 provinces that are not directly affected by the earthquake will be put into practice as of February 20.
Psychosocial support services will be carried out in six stages as part of the Psychosocial Support Action Plan Implementation Principles in provinces indirectly affected by the earthquake.
In the first stage, psychological first aid will be provided to students, parents, teachers and other individuals who came from the earthquake zone provinces and placed in dormitories and hostels by psychosocial support teams.
In the second stage, the "Earthquake-Teacher Session" will be given to the teachers on February 20 and "Earthquake-Parent Session" will be given to parents by counselors and psychological counselors on February 21-22.
In the third stage, the Post-Earthquake Psychoeducation Program will be given to students at all levels on February 23.
In the fourth and fifth stages, information sessions for families and teachers on loss and mourning will be held by school counselors and psychological counselors.
In the sixth stage, "Mourning Psychoeducation Program" will be given by the guidance teachers and psychological counselors to the students who were affected by the earthquake.
