MINISTER SELÇUK COMMENTS ABOUT EDUCATION IN THE FIRST YEAR OF THE PANDEMICNoting that the Ministry of National Education is determined to offer higher quality education after the end of the pandemic, Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk said, "We will consider the needs of every single child and provide required support. There is no need to worry about academic issues. We will come together with all of our teachers and colleagues in order to do the best we can."
Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk made a press statement concerning the status of education in the first year of the pandemic during his visit to the opening ceremony of Zonguldak Karadeniz Ereğli Şahinde Hayrettin Yavuz Science and Arts Center.
Selçuk said that the Ministry tried to adapt the new conditions emerged due to the pandemic and prepared required infrastructure through live lesson applications and by opening approximately 14 thousand and 800 EBA Support Centers.
Stressing that they might have experienced some shortcomings and problems throughout the process, Selçuk stated that the state of education is quite good when compared with other countries of the world.
Selçuk said that the pandemic was a period when the importance of socialization among children and their encounter at the school garden and classrooms was understood and went on to say:
"I can say that we have learned new things about distance education during this period. Efforts of our teachers were magnificent and they still work with sacrifice. Distance education is harder than face to face education. I would like to thank teachers again."
"Vocational High Schools made history"
Minister Selçuk stressed that vocational high schools made history by supplying most needed materials when the entire world was struggling due to problems in logistics. Establishment of R&D innovation centers and projects about the export of materials produced by vocational schools as well as patent, trademark and useful model projects marked the beginning of transformation in these schools.
Selçuk said that the contribution provided for vocational schools will continue in the future and added: "Families have made great contributions to the psychical and mental health of students and their academic success when parenting their children 24 hours a day under hard pandemic conditions. I am grateful to each and every single parent. With the will of Allah, we will overcome this tough period. We will offer higher quality of education after the end of the pandemic. We will consider the needs of every single child and provide required support. There is no need to worry about academic issues. We will come together with all of our teachers and colleagues in order to do the best we can."
